Collected Across Time

We recently created a new collection of jewelry designs that we lovingly call Galactic Goods.

The other day my intern Rhaela turned to me and asked, “Wait… how do you find Space Specimens?”

She’s been helping us out in The Lab these days, and her question made me realize that I’ve been keeping this part of the process a little secretive. Partly, it’s to protect anyone who might put themselves in danger searching for our source of Space Specimens. But mostly, I’ve been so caught up in the process of bringing new, intentional designs into the world, designs that might help others find their way through time and space.

So, I suppose it’s time to let you in on a little secret.

Our time-travel machines are our preferred instruments for gathering specimens. When we’re running low here at The Lab, Archer Adler loads up the travel pod with snacks, activates the time machine, and BLOOP! zips through space-time to a coordinate that predates humanity: 336,333 BCE.

On the other side, Archer makes her way to a small cave in what we now know as the Appalachian Mountains. Hidden inside is access to the crystalline crust, a rare source of the crystal growths we use in our work.

Unfortunately, in our current timeline, this cave has been buried beneath millions of tons of sediment and debris, making it completely inaccessible. Thus, the highly challenging nature of our sourcing.

And perhaps this is why the crystals are so special. At the quantum level, particles can become entangled, creating correlations between them that persist even when they are separated by vast distances.

We like to think our Space Specimens have a similar relationship with time itself: somehow connected to where they came from, even after they’ve traveled across centuries to reach us.

Once Archer returns with the raw crystal growths, we get to work. Each specimen is carefully cut and carved to highlight its unique qualities, then set by hand into its own one-of-a-kind setting.

Finally, we gold-plate the finished designs, giving each piece a little extra sparkle and, naturally, amplifying its time travel potential for the wearer.

It’s a labor of love, a little bit of science, and a lot of very careful jewelry making. But it’s our pleasure to bring these designs into the world and help you find your own way through time and space.
